Register for the universal Design Summit 6

 

A.  Housing and Accessibility Requirements – an introduction to the basic requirements for various kinds of housing, ranging from single family, to multifamily and including publicly funded projects as well as private condominium complexes.  This will be a nuts and bolts review of Fair Housing Accessibility requirements, ADA requirements for public areas and for student housing, ADA as applied to affordable housing, and current common building code requirements.  The session will also include discussion of current inclusive design concepts for housing and how those practices intersect with regulatory minimums.

B.   ADA and the Community – an introduction to the ADA in public accommodations particularly spaces that are central to community access.  These include buildings for shopping, community events, voting, religious services, social services, medical services and sports venues.  The emphasis will be on access to community.  Outdoor spaces and recreation areas will be included.   The discussion will include access to public sidewalks and parks, and access to transportation.
